The wines of the Saumur-Champigny appellation are known for their easy-drinking and fruity character. The Cabernet Franc grape, the dominant variety in this vineyard, is sometimes blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot d'Aunis. Just as in the neighboring Saumur appellation, the vineyards are planted on a limestone subsoil of tuffeau. Here, the winemakers have joined forces in a collective quality initiative to implement sustainable viticulture by replanting hedgerows and promoting animal biodiversity.
