The Massolino vineyard is situated on sunny slopes, where the clay-limestone soil allows for optimal drainage and promotes the ripening of the grapes. The vines, some several decades old, benefit from an ideal microclimate, combining warmth and coolness. This unique terroir gives the Nebbiolo grapes exceptional concentration and aromatic complexity. Viticulture is practiced with care, respecting natural cycles to guarantee the quality and authenticity of the wines.

Owner and history

Today, the fourth generation of the Massolino family is at the helm of the estate. The Massolino brothers, passionate about their land and its history, continue to pass on their expertise while innovating. They are committed to producing high-quality wines that reflect the identity of their region. Their passion for Nebbiolo and their respect for the terroir are central to their philosophy, allowing them to create wines that tell a story—the story of their land and their family.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for the 2017 Massolino Barolo begins with a manual harvest of the grapes, followed by traditional vinification in stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature to preserve the delicate aromas. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for an extended period, allowing the tannins to soften and the aromas to develop complexity. This meticulous aging process, combined with careful bottling, results in a Barolo that blends power and elegance.
