      The story of Giovanni Rosso

      A family that has become iconic

      For over 100 years,the Rosso familyproduces wines on the prestigious terroir of Piedmont. The wines are renowned for their elegance and perfect expression of the terroir. In the 1980s, after restructuring a large part of the vineyards and modernizing theGiovanni Rosso Estatehas become an iconic figure in Italy. Its planting schemes, which have become very modern, are indeed designed to produce very high quality wines.

      Davide RossoDavide, the son of winemaker Giovanni, joined the family estate in 2001 at the age of 27. His extensive experience in oenology has only enhanced the family's ability to produce great wines. Davide personally oversees the winemaking and aging process.

      If for yearsGiovanniWith the aim of establishing a presence in a new region, this parallel project finally came to fruition in 2016 with the purchase ofEtna, an estate in Sicily. Located in the hamlet ofSolicchiata di Castiglione di Sicilia.

      The terroir of Etna

      In search of purity

      "The wine must have the perfect copy of its terroirIn other words, the wine must be a perfect reflection of its terroir. These are the words of the Rosso family, who are constantly striving for purity and the truest possible expression of their terroir.

      Purchased in 2016, Etna extends over14 hectares in a single blockThe estate is ideally located, a few kilometers before Passopisciaro, at the foot of Montedolce, a small extinct crater that gives its name to the Contrada. This is the northeastern slope of the volcano, an area particularly suited to the production of red wines.

      Currently, the vineyard covers a little over six and a half hectares.1.2 hectares for the production of white wines and 5.5 hectares for red winesThe planting type consists of young plants, with an average age offorty yearsThe average altitude of the vineyard is750 metersabove sea level. The ground is entirely composed of lava sand.
