History of the Estate Pibarnon Castle

    the story of Pibarnon Castle

    The land of Bandol

    the origin of wine

Located at an altitude of 300 meters and just a few kilometers from the sea, the 50-hectare vineyard is planted on poor soil and an exceptional subsoil of Triassic limestone. This geological formation predates the Quaternary formations generally found in the region by 150 million years.BandolThe rock is extremely flexible: it's an ideal material for promoting deep root growth and allowing the root system to draw the moisture and trace elements it needs. In this terroir, summer nights are cool, and the mistral wind dries the morning sea mists. This provides the vines with the extra moisture they need to gently refine the ripening of the grapes. The conditions are ideal for bringing theMourvèdreat full maturity. The grape varieties used in the production of white wine,Clairette, marsanneAndrolleare produced in a specially dedicated north-facing arena.

Yields of 30 to 35 hl/ha are perfectly acceptable here.

THEhand-harvested grapesare followed by aselective sortingThe maceration periods are long but not excessive. Aging in oak casks will impart the length, elegance, and exceptional aging potential that this great wine offers.

THEPibarnon CastleIt produces red, rosé, and white wines that continue to win awards every year. A second wine called Les Restanques de Pibarnon is primarily made from younger vines.
