The Bergerac appellation, the largest in the region, produces fine wines with AOC and AOP labels, three-quarters of which are red. The grape varieties are the same as in Bordeaux: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its terroir, with its temperate oceanic climate and clay-limestone soils, yields supple, balanced, and elegant wines. The reds are tannic with aromas of red fruit. The whites are mellow with a golden-yellow hue and honeyed aromas.

The Côtes de Bergerac appellation is located in the Southwest wine region, bordered by Bordeaux to the west and Agen to the south. Although situated in the same area as the Bergerac AOC, it is distinguished by stricter regulations concerning harvesting and winemaking. This results in wines, exclusively red, that are often of superior quality, more complex, and with greater aging potential.

Château Tour des Gendres

Château Tour des Gendres has belonged to the de Conti family since the early 1980s. In the Middle Ages, the property was the wine-growing estate of the Château de Bridoire. Today, as a fully independent estate, Francis and Luc de Conti cultivate the vines organically . They produce several wines: La Gloire de Mon Père in Côtes de Bergerac, Moulin des Dames white and red in Bergerac, Château Tour des Gendres red, Cuvée des Conti white, as well as several single-vineyard white and red wines and a range of wines made without added sulfites. Vinification takes place in large oak casks and amphorae.

La Gloire de Mon Père is a red wine from the Côtes de Bergerac AOC. It is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grapes, grown on south-facing clay-limestone soils. The wine has a beautiful red color with violet highlights. The nose evokes small black fruits, the richness of chocolate and licorice, as well as notes of toast. It pairs very well with local Périgord products such as duck confit or magret, and mushrooms.
