The Massaya vineyard extends across sunny terraces, at an altitude conducive to vine cultivation. Grapes grown on the foothills of Mount Lebanon, at an altitude of over 1,000 meters, in the locality of Hadath Baalbeck, overlooking Baalbeck and its famous temple of Bacchus.

Owner and history

Massaya embodies the very essence of contemporary Lebanon. Through the quality of our wines, the authentic flavors of our cuisine, and the warmth of our hospitality, we convey a message of refinement, joy, and welcome. Although we relied on the experience of our two French partners – Hébrard in Bordeaux and Brunier in Châteauneuf-du-Pape – We are first and foremost Lebanese winemakers. Our ancestors and our land are our source of inspiration. One of the finest examples of our art is the Temple of Bacchus, erected on the impressive Roman site of Baalbek. While our Phoenician ancestors mastered viticulture and winemaking very early on, making Lebanon a cradle of wine, this temple remains a tribute to the importance of the vine in our culture.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at domaine Massaya is a skillful blend of tradition and innovation.
This wine is a typical Rhône blend: Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The vines are located at approximately 1,000 meters altitude on the foothills of Mount Lebanon, which allows the grapes to retain vital freshness despite the summer heat.

The team's opinion

The Massaya "Terrasses de Baalbeck" 2018 is a wine that embodies the very soul of this ancient terroir: a meeting of the generosity of the Lebanese sun and the finesse of French-inspired winemaking (the Brunier family of Vieux Télégraphe is a partner of the domaine).
