The Château Léoville Barton vineyard covers approximately 50 hectares, planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The gravelly soil provides optimal drainage and excellent sun exposure, ideal conditions for grape ripening. The region's oceanic climate, with its hot summers and mild winters, promotes harmonious vine development. Environmentally friendly viticultural practices optimize grape quality while preserving the terroir's biodiversity.

Owner and history

Château Léoville Barton is currently managed by the Barton family, who have carried on the family tradition for nearly two centuries. Anthony Barton, the current owner, has maintained the spirit of the estate while modernizing it. His commitment to quality and authenticity has allowed the Château to forge an international reputation. The family remains deeply attached to its roots and its terroir, ensuring that each wine reflects their passion for winemaking and their love of the Bordeaux terroir.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Léoville Barton is carried out with care and precision. The grapes are harvested by hand and then rigorously sorted to retain only the finest berries. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, allowing for optimal temperature control. The wine is aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for approximately 16 months. This crucial stage allows the aromas to refine and the complexity of the wine to develop, while subtly integrating the oak notes.
