Owner and history

Les Grandes Places is an emblematic vineyard site in Côte-Rôtie, covering a small area of ​​1.4 hectares, making it a rare and precious parcel. Located in the northern part of the appellation, this terroir benefits from favorable exposure and soils rich in schist and mica schist, characteristic of the region's vineyards.

Vinification and aging

At Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin, the harvest is done by hand to guarantee a rigorous selection of the best grapes. After total destemming, the grapes undergo extended maceration to extract maximum aromas and structure. For Les Grandes Places 2022, the wine is aged for 22 months in demi-muids, 70% of which are new and 30% of which have been used for one or two previous wines. This process allows for a subtle complexity, where the oak notes integrate perfectly with the richness of the fruit, while respecting the elegance of the terroir.
